New York Cares Day Fall 2014 – October 18, 2014 ![]() Above: Muralist Alexis Wuyts poses with Marble Hill School students and teacher Ms. Lewkowicz. ___________________ New York Cares Day Spring 2015 – April 18, 2015 Marble Hill School Youth Team joined other volunteers on New York Cares Day Spring 2015 at Pelham Bay Park's Orchard Beach. Their task was to clean the shoreline and help paint the rail and nature house. Three students from Riverdale Country School joined our team. Students from the two schools collaborated in different activities during 2014-2015 as Breaking Borders. Marianne Anderson, the park administrator, wrote a thank you note stating: "Thank you for volunteering at Orchard Beach on Saturday. New York Cares volunteers accomplished a great deal in just a short amount of time.
![]() ____________________ The Ranger Conservation Corps at Van Cortlandt Park Ranger Dominique Partin replaced Ranger Michael Vincent this year as the Urban Park Ranger in charge of the Ranger Conservation Corps Program at Van Cortlandt Park. Students in the program learn to protect and restore natural terrestrial ecosystems. ![]() Above: Ranger Dominique demonstrates the basics of composting. ____________________ Marble Hill School for International Studies Holds Its 2nd Annual Fun Run On May 16, 2015 students and staff participated in the second Marble Hill School Fun Run. This fundraising event took place at Van Cortlandt Park and was organized by Marble Hill School teacher Mr. Nicholas Pesola. All proceeds went to Direct Relief for disaster relief efforts in Nepal after of the April 2015 earthquake. | Over 60 Marble Hill School students joined other volunteers to beautify and revitalize our school.
